Founded in 1999 SPI Lasers (or Southampton Photonics Institute as it was originally known) was a spin-out from Southampton Universities Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), quickly establishing itself as a global leader in the design and manufacture of industrial fiber lasers.

Having acquired JK Lasers in 2015 the two companies combined experience of providing effective Laser solutions stretches over more than 50 years. They are expert at providing their customers with the manufacturing and service solutions they are looking for.

Since 2008 they have been wholly owned by the TRUMPF Group, a German high-tech company focusing on the provision of Machine Tools and Laser Technology/Electronics.

British Built

All their Lasers are designed and manufactured in one of their two UK based manufacturing sites in Southampton and Rugby. They employ the very best engineers and technicians, as well as advanced lean manufacturing techniques and processes to develop and build their products. They are committed to harnessing the very best British engineering and innovation excellence; ensuring the highest levels of product quality are achieved.

In addition they are focused on maintaining as much in-house manufacturing as possible, from the production of their own Fiber and Beam Delivery Optics through to the manufacture of their mode strippers and beam combiners; whatever the product, they all comply with the highest technical and manufacturing standards.
